Directions
Let's Get Dipping!
Get Ready, Get Set!
Grown-ups: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper. This is where your beautiful cones will rest.
Kids: Gather all your fun toppings! Put each topping in a small bowl so it's easy to grab. This is your "topping station!"
Melt the Chocolate (Grown-Up Job!)
Grown-ups: Put the chocolate chips and coconut oil into a microwave-safe bowl.
Microwave Magic: Heat for 30 seconds, then stir, stir, stir! Heat again for 30 seconds and stir. Keep doing this until the chocolate is super smooth and melty. Be careful, it will be warm!
Optional Flavor Fun: If you want a little extra yum, grown-ups can stir in the Spice Madness Ceylon Cinnamon Powder now. It makes the chocolate taste extra cozy!
Dip Your Cones!
Hold a cone by its pointy end. Dip the open end of the cone right into the warm, melty chocolate! Turn it around so the chocolate coats the edges. You can dip just the top, or dip it down deeper – it's up to you!
Let any extra chocolate drip off a little bit before the next step.
Sprinkle, Sprinkle, Sprinkle!
This is the best part! As soon as your cone comes out of the chocolate, quickly hold it over your topping bowls.
Kids: This is the BEST part! Go wild with the toppings!! Press them gently onto the chocolate so they stick.
Remember, the chocolate sets fast, so sprinkle right away!
Cool Down Time!
Carefully place each decorated cone upright in your tall glasses or cone holder.
Grown-ups: Put the baking sheet (with the cones in the glasses) into the refrigerator.
Let them chill for at least 30 minutes. This makes the chocolate get nice and hard so it won't melt all over your hands when you eat your ice cream!
Time to Enjoy!
Once the chocolate is super hard, your awesome, homemade chocolate-dipped ice cream cones are ready for your favorite scoops of ice cream! Dig in!
If you have any leftover cones (unlikely!), you can keep them in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for a few days.
Recipe Note
Super Duper Tips for Kids & Grown-Ups!
- Patience is Key: It's hard to wait for the chocolate to set, but it's worth it for a non-messy cone!
- Messy Fun: This can get a little messy, so maybe put down some newspaper or a plastic tablecloth!
- Explore More Flavors: Grown-ups, if you want to try different spices from SpiceMadness.com, a tiny pinch of Spice Madness Ginger Powder or Spice Madness Cardamom Powder can add a fun twist to the chocolate for an older palate!
- Make it a Party: This is a perfect activity for playdates or birthday parties. Set up a "decorate your own cone" station!
